Can every estate-planning document be notarized online?
No. Eligibility can depend on the document, signer location, required witnesses, receiving organization, and recording requirements. Booking an appointment does not guarantee that a particular document can be completed online.
Will Barnes Notaries prepare or review my estate plan?
No. Barnes Notaries is not a law firm and cannot draft documents, choose a notarial act for you, interpret legal language, or advise you about your estate plan. Please contact the document preparer or an attorney for those questions.
Should I sign the document before the appointment?
Wait for instructions before adding a new signature or date. If the document is already signed, mention that during the eligibility review so the correct next step can be determined without altering the document.
What if online notarization is not appropriate?
Nathaniel will explain that the online appointment cannot proceed and may discuss an in-person Barnes Notaries appointment when available. You may also need to contact the document preparer or receiving organization for acceptable alternatives.
